Dr Priya Kalahasti completed her initial medical training at the SV Medical College in Tirupati, where she received her MBBS degree. Following this, she immigrated to the US, where she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in 2004, and subsequently, her fellowship in nephrology at the Clinic in 2006. Dr. Kalahasti then went on to work as a staff nephrologist from 2006 until 2017, and has now worked at the University Hospital’s Cleveland Medical Center since 2018. During her time at the Clinic and UH, she has worked extensively with Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis patients. She developed Shared Medical Program for Nephrology and saw patients with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease).
However, her primary interests have always laid within approaches to chronic disease, largely inspired by her experience working with patients who have a strong desire to make lifestyle changes for better health outcomes rather than adding prescription medications to their health regimens. Initially dabbling in dietary changes to approach patients with chronic kidney disease, Dr. Kalahasti decided to pursue education in Ayurveda, in which she completed her training from 2016-17. Following this, she completed her Fellowship in Integrative Medicine from the Andrew Weil School of Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, Tucson, from which she graduated in 2019. In this program, Dr. Kalahasti explored topics in Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sleep Wellness, Dietary Nutrients, and Healthy Gut Microbiome.
In 2022, Dr. Kalahasti completed her Yoga Teachers Training Course at BYVK, and is now certified in Yoga Instructor by the Ministry of Ayush, India.
